There is a wide variety of option when it comes to 3D modeling software,but few good ones but it really doesn't get any easier than SketchUp. You can get good enough result with within a couple hours of starting it for the first time because Modeling in SketchUp is about grabbing your mouse and creating something.
The main advantage and reason why its learning curve is so much favorable than other software is that SketchUp is a surfaces modeler. Everything is made up of thin surfaces. That is why its so great for making models quickly because all you have to focus when working in a model is what it look like because the software is intended for visualization.

intimate - their most private area.
personal - the area where they interact with their closest aquaintances.
social- the area for short social interactions.
public - area where their is not a direct interactions with others.
the way each is define through our sense of proximity, which in turn determines the area of each of the categ.

You not have to consider only the physical aspect of the problem which is man relations to space, taking to account scale and proportions, the proper measurements for man to function properly but the psychological aspects as well how he will perceive that space, the lighting, color scheme ect. The proper balance of these two aspects is what constitutes a good design, whether is residential or commercial the same basic principals apply.
The main Factors you need to consider in man relation to space is:
1.The Dimension and the Space man needs.
2.The environment it needs (climate).
3.The perception of the space.
4.The use of Color.
